Ungrateful fiancee says we're finished
I never cheated and I just thought that everything between us was so perfect
Dear Coleen,
I was with my girlfriend for more than a year and half. I work on the oil rigs, doing a month on and a month off.
I lived with her and gave her everything – presents, flowers, chocolates, holidays and nice meals.
At Christmas she said it was all over. I was devastated. I’d just spent over £1,200 on her and her son.
I’m not bothered about the money, it’s the way she did it.
We were engaged and planning to marry this year. I’ve tried phone calls, texts and emails but she never replies.
I never cheated and I just thought that everything between us was so perfect.
Where did I go wrong?
Coleen says..
I don’t think you went wrong anywhere. I think for her it wasn’t working and there’s nothing you can do about it.
You can chuck as much money as you like at the situation and send as many flowers as you want, but if someone has lost that feeling there’s not a lot you can do.
I know what you’re feeling now is one of the worst feelings in the world, but unfortunately you have to accept it and move on. However long that takes is up to you.
But I promise you will get over it and meet someone else who appreciates your efforts.
I know it’s hard to see now, but she wasn’t the right one for you and it’s better it ended now, rather than after you’d gone through a wedding.
